How can you locate a PO Box if you just have the key with the numbers on it? ›

Easy. Convenient. To check it out, go to www.usps.com/poboxes and click on Go under “Locate a Post Office Box” on the right-hand side. When you enter a ZIP Code or address to locate an available P.O. Box, you receive a list of the closest Post Offices along with P.O. Box information for each office.

Sometimes, an address will not validate because the address is marked as "vacant" by the USPS. Additionally, a new address, an unregistered address, or one located within a postal code primarily serviced by PO boxes, would all fail to validate.

While most addresses are uniquely coded, not all are, especially in high density areas (e.g., apartment buildings or condos). If your address is not uniquely coded, you will not be able to sign up for Informed Delivery. Visit informeddelivery.usps.com to sign up and check if your address is eligible.

It is likely that your usps.com® profile is not updated with your current address. The best way to prevent this issue is to submit an Official Change of Address online at moversguide.usps.com, in person at a Post Office™, or through your carrier.

Whether you are the sender or recipient, you can track your item: Online: Use USPS Tracking® on the United States Postal Service® website. By text: Send a text to 28777 (2USPS) with your tracking number as the content of the message.

The Postal Service keeps no duplicate keys and if the customer loses all the keys, the Postal Service will have to install a new lock and issue a new set of keys at the customer's expense. When you move out, leave the mailbox key(s) with the owner, manager or next resident.

One of the most common ways to validate an address is to use the USPS Address Verification tool. This tool is available on the USPS website and can be used to verify the accuracy of address information and standardize it to conform to USPS formatting rules.

Look for spelling errors. Sometimes it may just be some numbers that were not added in the right order, or some misspelled word is in place. Make sure you are not in a PO Box Postal Area. Some locations are designated by the USPS as PO Box only areas, which means that any other houses in the area will not receive mail.

Common reasons are: a vehicle blocking your mailbox, loose dog or other animal interference, address is in a gated community or locked building we could not get into, public utility work, or emergency responders.

Although the Informed Delivery app, top, will be discontinued soon, customers will still be able to access Informed Delivery notifications through the regular USPS Mobile app.

What is the downside of USPS Informed Delivery? ›

Pieces can be delayed in getting to your mail carrier. Or, unfortunately, a mailpiece could be misdelivered. We ask that you allow several days for delivery after receiving the notification. Unfortunately, an occasional piece of mail may fail to reach its destination.

Incorrect Information: Inaccurate street names, city names, or postal codes can lead to validation failure. Missing Information: Essential details like house numbers or street names might be missing, making validation impossible.

If we are not able to deliver the mail as addressed, we will use the return address on the mailpiece and try to return it to the sender.

There are several reasons that your mail is being marked as undeliverable as addressed due to invalid, insufficient, or incomplete addresses, including missing forwarding information, missing secondary information, and/or insufficient postage.

USPS informed delivery only shows the exterior of your mail

USPS informed delivery subscribers receive emails with a low-resolution, gray-scale digital image of only up to 10 pieces of mail a day. USPS informed delivery doesn't show customers all of their mail. Some letters arrive without ever showing up as a preview.

Applicants must provide a physical address on the application for a PO Box. Therefore, PO Box addresses can be traced to physical home and business addresses. This is good news if you are trying to locate someone with just a PO Box address.

Step 1: Search for Post Office locations near you by using the search bar under "Find a PO Box Near You." Step 2: Choose a Post Office location and select your desired PO Box size and payment period.

A key will be left in the mailbox to be used as a parcel locker key. This key has a tag that indicates the parcel locker that contains the item. Insert the key into the correct parcel locker , and the mail piece can be retrieved. The key will remain in the locker once it is inserted.
