The School of Nursing and Health Studies offers three specialty tracks in advanced practice nursing and nursing education.Students must complete the coursework as specified in the Plan of Study for the specific track under which they were admitted and as listed in the Academic Bulletin and theStudent Handbook. Students must also successfully complete the courses in each semester to progress to the next. Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program
TheMaster of Science in Nursing (MSN) Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) programis designed to prepare nurses to care for patients who are acutely and critically ill. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the AGACNP certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the ACNP-AG certification exam offered by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).

Mission
The mission of the MSN program is to educate students and support faculty committed to excellence in the art and science of nursing and health care studies through creating and disseminating health knowledge and developing culturally competent leaders to provide safe service to our community, the nation, and the world.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to incorporate professional ethics and social justice in the development of the advanced practice role.
- Students will demonstrate proficiency in comprehensive health assessment of individuals and families across the lifespan at an advanced practice nursing level.
- Students in the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Track will be able to synthesize concepts and theories from the basic sciences, humanities, medicine, and nursing in learning to deliver care to this population of patients.
- Students from the Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program will be able to identify, describe, analyze and evaluate a topic on issues of aging which will demonstrate ability to integrate and manage health and social problems in the Adult Gerontology population.
- Students from the Family Nurse Practitioner program will demonstrate ability to integrate information to manage acute and chronic health problems in advanced clinical practice with emphasis on strategies for health maintenance and health promotion.
Admission Requirements
- An earned Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a regionally-accredited institution
- Degree in nursing from a NLN or CCNE accredited program is preferred.
- Registered nurses with a Bachelor’s degree in other relevant science fields may be considered.
- Direct entry Masters are ineligible to apply to this program.
- Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Introductory statistics course
- Minimum of one year critical care experience is required for theAdult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner track
Current, unrestricted RN license to practice nursing in the state of Florida or the state/territory of current practice
