Lifetime's hit reality series Married at First Sight is currently airing its sixteenth season of pairing couples and marrying them at the altar, sight unseen. MAFS has tried to mimic 90 Day Fiancé in recent years, by upping the drama, rather than finding genuine relationships. However, some couples do go the distance. The cameras are still rolling on the Nashville cast, but the dust has settled on the Philadelphia-based couples from season 8.
Married at First Sight season 8 premiered in early 2019, introducing viewers to four couples from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Luke Cuccurrollo and Kate Sisk, Keith Dewar and Kristine Killingsworth, Will Guess and Jasmine McGriff, and AJ Vollmoeller and Stephanie Sersen. That season, they brought on one of the series' most prominent villains. There was a surprising divorce, along with some happy endings. In 2023, only two MAFS season 8 couples are still together.
Luke Cuccurullo & Kate Sisk
Luke and Kate made a cute couple, but unfortunately, their relationship was far from pleasant. The marriage was rocky from the beginning, with Luke sharing that he felt. "dead inside" and "repulsed" when he and Kate consummated their marriage. He continued to show his true colors by refusing to sleep in the same bed as his wife, and lying to the production team that Kate had a drinking problem. His malicious actions eventually led him to become the reality series' most prominent villain.
Luke was even rumored to have been coined by veteran expert Dr. Pepper as the, "meanest person she's ever met," which was supposedly said by her to his mom. To make matters worse, on their Decision Day, Kate questioned Luke's sexuality. She'd discovered that he'd said he was interested in men and women on his Facebook page. Although Luke admitted to this, he said that sharing it was part of a college prank, and that he never bothered changing it. However, the damage was already done. It's very unsurprising that these two got a divorce.
Nearly four years later, they appear to be doing fine separately. Luke focused on his photography business, which seems to be booming. He also began a podcast called Cuccurullo Conversations, which hasn't aired an episode since 2020. His social media page doesn't suggest new relationships, but he did find friendship with MAFS 9 star, Amber Bowles. Luke briefly dated a woman named Sammi DiGiacinto in 2020 and 2021, but the two no longer appear to be together.
Kate has been dating a man known as Harry Christopher on Instagram since at least 2021. According to Kate's Instagram page, the entrepreneur has been focused on her lingerie line, Hidden Intimates, which turned a year old in March. Her page also indicates that she's pretty close to some of the MAFS women, as they're seen in several of her pictures within the last year.
Keith Dewar & Kristine Killingsworth
Keith and Kristine had a happy ending. This couple is still married, and has been keeping others up to date on their relationship via Married at First Sight: Couples' Cam. The social distancing spin-off is a self-shot series highlighting the lasting couples from Married at First Sight, including footage of the teams during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. The show highlighted how Kristine managed her time at home. During the crisis, Keith had an increase in hours because he was an essential worker (dialysis biomedical technician). Keith and Kristine still happily live together in Philadelphia, and regularly post on their Instagram pages about their daily lives.
Will Guess & Jasmine McGriff
It wasn't a smooth journey for Will and Jasmine, and although they tried to make it work, Jasmine eventually wanted a divorce. Unfortunately, Will didn't feel the same way. In a surprising turn of events, he said he wanted a divorce, despite Jasmine's wishes.
Jasmine's life has changed in a big way since appearing on MAFS. In December 2020, she gave birth to a baby boy, Jacoby. Most recently, Jasmine announced in December 2022, shortly after Jacoby's second birthday, that she was expecting twins. Conversely, Will appears to still be single, and focusing on accomplishing his goals. He's been coaching girls' basketball, and becoming a mentor and advocate for girls playing the sport.
AJ Vollmoeller & Stephanie Sersen
The second couple to stay married from season 8 was AJ and Stephanie. Like Keith and Kristine, they shared their journey after their season on Married at First Sight: Couples' Cam. The couple, known for their travels, were confined to their Philly apartment due to COVID-19. Steph was the breadwinner with her booming financial advisor business during that time. However, two years ago, the adventurers moved to Key West, and they love the warm weather.
Two out of the four Philly-based couples on MAFS season 8 have made nearly four years of marriage work. Although two couples didn't make it past Decision Day, they seem to be thriving in their personal lives. Whether couples survive the MAFS season 16 Decision Day remains to be seen.
