Karla Ann Charlton may have left Gold Rush, but the former reality star has not stopped adventuring. Gold Rush has never been the realest of Discovery Channel's many "reality" shows with its propensity for over-the-top and staged drama. However, the 2010 series and its many spinoffs are still memorable and exciting thanks to the varied characters who make their livings off digging for gold in the remote parts of the United States, Canada, and beyond. Karla Ann Charlton arrived on the show in season 9, sticking around for 52 episodes.
Karla also appeared in two Gold Rush spinoff series, Parker's Trail and The Dirt. A native of Vernon, British Columbia, she came to the show from her current hometown of White Horse, Yukon, and was attracted to the Gold Rush franchise thanks to her great-grandfather, who was a Klondike miner. Karla got into wilderness adventure because of her mother, who was a paddle guide and taught Karla all the skills she put to good use on the show. Though Gold Rush continues to air, Karla Ann Charlton is no longer a part of it, but she keeps plenty busy.

Her duty is as the survival expert and wilderness guide, which also includes taking pictures. Karla is the one who helps the prospectors and mechanics actually make it to the site where they want to search for gold. She tagged along with Parker Schnabel on Gold Rush and his spinoff, Parker's Trail.
The other members of the crew often give Karla a hard time with her propensity to lose her gear, constant yoga, and coffee-making skills, but it's all in jest.
Karla was enlisted to ensure safe navigation through challenging terrain on the Klondike trail, Guyana, and Papua New Guinea. When Karla Ann Charlton left Gold Rush after season 11, she went on working as a survival expert and wilderness guide. She does so through her own company, "Karla Ann Adventures". Her business specializes in trekking, horsepacking, and packrafting trips through the Yukon and Northern B.C. Trips can be a day, or they can be as much as 10 days, and Karla promises that those who tour with her will not only have a safe trip, but will also learn about bushcraft, foraging, and navigation.

Karla considers herself a mentor and offers wilderness therapy classes. Women ages 15-20 can sign up for one of her retreats and Karla tells those who sign up to leave their phones at home. Karla's experience in the wilderness has afforded her the highest standard in Avalanche rescue training and Wilderness First Aid.
She's also a professional photographer and anyone who travels with Karla can expect professional-grade pictures to take home with them after the trip. Karla shares many of these photographs on Instagram, which she frequently updates so those interested in meeting the former Gold Rush star can get a look at what they're in for if they join one of her adventures.
