Recently, CVS Health announced a new strategic alliancewith Microsoft, based on our existing work together that started in 2018. The latest chapter of our collaboration increases our infrastructure footprint in the Azure public cloud and opens the door for many opportunities to help our 100 million consumers live healthier lives.

This new strategic alliance will also help all CVS Health employees, including frontline workers and pharmacists, serve our consumers better. My colleague Nathan Frank, who leads CVS Health’s cloud strategy, shares more details here.

We remain committed to our hybrid cloud strategy, which includes Microsoft Azure and our private cloud that we call CIRRUS. This pragmatic approach is the most versatile and cost-effective way to advance software-driven infrastructure for our enterprise and others like us. Deloitte’s research reflects the popularity of a hybrid cloud model today, with97% of IT managers reportingthat they plan to distribute workloads across two or more clouds.

CVS Health -- like many enterprises, judging by Gartner’s estimate that nearlyhalf a trillion dollars will be spent on cloud infrastructure in 2022 overall-- is accelerating the complex process of advancing and optimizing to maximize value from cloud. This is challenging work and requires a sustained focus to do well. And the payoffs are real: This year, we leveraged the cloud to perform advanced analytics and machine learning models that enabled the equitable distribution of 50 million Covid vaccines, with approximately 40 percent of thosegoing towards underrepresented communities.

We look forward to sharing more as we build our cloud-based digital health technology ecosystem. I’m excited about the work we’re doing and want to thank my entire team and partners for making it possible.

Why is everyone using multiple data & analytics tools instead of using 1 platform for EVERYTHING?
